Support Groups
SUPPORT GROUPS AT DERBYSHIRE CARERS ASSOCIATION:
Derbyshire Carers Support Groups are peer to peer based support groups. They aim to bring together Carers to share and use their own experiences and understanding to help each other. Peer support groups provide a space to feel accepted and understood and gives equal respect and compassion to everyone’s experiences. Through coming together with like-minded individuals who can truly understand what they’ re going through and share similar insights it helps to increase the Carer’s circle of support and reduce the isolation felt by their circumstances.
Within a peer support group you will have a group facilitator/group lead that is able to hold the responsibility for the group’s meeting’s, group boundaries, structure, risk assessments, bookings and ensuring the continued functioning of the group. The group sessions can range from a general friendly chat with each other, or there may be speakers and other facilitators invited to share information and activities with the group.

Memory Loss Carers Support Group
3rd Thursday of the month 2pm - 3.30pm – on ‘ZOOM’
Our support group is for carers who are caring for someone with memory loss. No diagnosis needed and our group is made up of a mixture of carers, those who are new to their caring role and those who have been doing it for many years. Along the way, we will be inviting speakers, delivering movement and art workshops and also supporting one another through a good ol’ chin wag & a cuppa! This group is about you as a carer and what you would like to get from it, but also to meet other carers in a similar situation to yourselves.
Learning Disability Carers Only Meeting
Occurs fortnightly on Thursdays 4.00pm – 5.15 pm approx. – on ‘Microsoft Teams’
These meetings are a chance for you as a learning disability carer to speak to each other and to share common difficulties, experiences and solutions.
They are held on Microsoft Teams, if you are unfamiliar with this we can talk you through it.
Next dates are as follows: 24th March
